2 month update

Quinn had her two month well visit last week. She weighs 11lbs 11oz ( 75%ile) and is 23 1/4 inches long (75%ile). She is now wearing her 3 month clothing and we sadly had to put away her newborn clothes. She is in size 1 diapers but we think she will be into the 2's soon. We asked the doctor about her reflux medication and he said we could try to stop it after 3 months. She is gulping when she eats and can finish nursing in just 10 minutes, which it used to take her 30 minutes a feeding. She is still having diarrhea issues, as I demonstrated in the last post. Grunting is still a regular occurance from between 1am and 3am on. My body is slowly adjusting to 4-5hrs of sleep. She still has her startle reflex when we lay her down and it often wakes her up, so we are back to swaddling her at night. She is still sleeping in the bassinet but we have started to have her nap in her crib. She loves her butterfly mobile and the fan in her room and we think she is too stimulated to fall asleep. She lays there and chats for a while until she is bored and then wants out.

Quinn has discovered her hands and she loves to put her whole fist in her mouth. Two weeks ago she started crying with tears. It is too cute. She is trying hard to laugh but hasn't quite gotten the hang of it just yet. She gives daddy the biggest smiles right before he leaves for work. She discovered Hayley a couple weeks ago too. She stares and talks to her and her eyes get so wide when she comes close to her. It is so fun watching her grow and change. I am so happy I am able to be home with her through summer. I can't imagine being back at work already!

2 months old-I think she felt pretty cool sitting all by herself. She is such a ham!

Poop, Poop, and More Poop

I just had to post this picture for proof. Sorry to be graphic. Yesterday Quinn had this explosion while I was feeding her. Luckily, I had a blanket wrapped around her at the time. I still don't understand how it is possible to poop in such a fashion. As you may have guessed our afternoon turned into laundry and bath time. I think I went through half a tub of wipes...good thing I'm in that wipe research study!

Spring is Here!

Quinn is now 7 weeks old. She had a busy week last week. She went to mommy's work to meet all her teacher friends. Quinn was a hit, but didn't get a morning nap in because she was being passed around. She too a four hour nap after we left. Andy is finally over the flu and he couldn't wait to hold her again. Quinn watched a lot of basketball games with her daddy. She saw our friend,Nate, Uncle Michael and Aunt Ali, and visited at Grandma and Grandpa H.'s house for a sunny Sunday afternoon. We got to visit our friend's daughter, Arielle, born at 36 weeks, while Quinn stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's. Our friend Mandi also had a baby boy last week. Quinn has so many friends around her age, we can't wait to have playdates with all of them.

Look at those chubby cheeks!

Our Little MunchQuinn

Quinnis growing and getting some chubby cheeks. She is now smiling and cooing. She likes to laugh in her sleep but hasn't figured it out when she is awake yet. She has had a couple play dates with her friends, Stella, Jaren, and Henry. She has visited with many friends and family. Quinn loves to ride in the car and take walks in the stroller. I have taken her a few shopping sprees. She slept every time and was a hit with the ladies.
She has been less cranky since starting her reflux medicine. We aren't sure if it is the medicine or her just developing. We are going to talk to the doctor about trying to ween her off. She is doing better sleeping on her back but recently she has been grunting from 3am on. I think it is gas and I am happy it isn't making her cry, but let me tell you it isn't easy trying to sleep while she is making that noise. I need to try to record it and post it on this blog so you can get the full effect. She is still sleeping in the bassinet. We have removed the boppy and now we just have her mattress elevated. She loves being carried around in the Baby Bjorn and it helps her fall asleep when she is fussy.
Both grandmas have gotten a chance to babysit her. She loves grandma time. Grandma H. watched her while we went to a wedding ceremony and Grandma B. watched her while we went to a St. Patty's Day party. We left Grandma B. with too little milk. I feel like a horrible mom. I thought the 2 oz. bottles I had frozen were enough but apparently she is now drinking 4 oz. a feeding. I guess that's the problem with breastfeeding. I am just happy she will take a bottle too.
I found a way to get paid a little extra while I am on leave. I am a part of a research study for Huggies baby wipes. I use two different kinds for two weeks and then attend a focus group to discuss opinions about each one. Let's hope the wipes don't cause some strange reaction or diaper rash. I will let you know how it goes. I have been getting a lot of requests for new pictures so enjoy!

Doing some tummy time. Boy I love being on my belly.

Sitting with my boyfriend, Jaren.

Happy 1 month, Quinn!

Quinn went for her one month well visit yesterday. She is now 9lbs 2oz (50%ile), 21 1/2 inches (75%ile), and her head circumference is 36cm (10-25%ile). Our little pinhead. We discovered that the reason she doesn't like sleeping on her back is because she most likely has reflux. She is going to get a medication to help with it, but just keeping her elevated is helping her. We put the boppy in the bassinet last night so she had a little incline and she slept in it all night without fussing. No more sleeping on mommy. Woo Hoo! Today she gave us her first smile, right before Andy left for work. What a great way to start the day.
