Disney on Ice

Quinn and a couple girl friends went to the Disney on Ice show this past week.  Since she is into princesses I knew she would have a blast.  She insisted on dressing up and packed lip gloss and other necessary princess items for the show.  It was a great time and she was all smiles.  It was so magical for her. It looks like we might need to consider planning and saving for a Disney vacation now.

Let's go already!

All decked out in her "Tangled" gear.

Literally the first crew there.
Plenty of time to explore and get settled before the show.

Naming all the princesses and talking about their favorites.

Dancing around.

Ordering some popcorn.

1st expression as the show started.

In shock that she is watching Mickey and Minnie skate around the ice.

Then she notices more characters appear and she is overwhelmed with excitement.
Making sure she doesn't  miss anything.

ThReE YeArS oLd!

Happy 3rd Birthday Quinn!
Quinn had a blast celebrating princess-style with the family last weekend.  She is oh so loved.  It is hard to believe she is already three.  We decided to tell her what her sister's name is going to be because she has been calling her "Brother", "Bleeto" and "Johnny".  We just didn't want any of those to stick and knowing how chatty she is we knew everyone would end up finding out the name eventually.   During the party she was going to announce this to the family, but it took 15 minutes of selective mutism before she could spit out that her new sister is going to be named, Molly.

We have been living in the new house since mid-December and she is adjusting quite well. She enjoys watching daddy do woodworking and discussing whether or not base boards need "shoes" or not.  She knows all the lingo.  She is eager to have all of her friends and family over to show off her favorite room of the house....the toy room.  She could play for hours in there, now that she can see all of her toys, instead of having them shoved under our staircase in the townhouse. It is WONDERFUL!

3 year old dislikes:
  • She can't stand if her socks or tights don't line up just so on her toes or if she doesn't care for the outfit she is wearing. There are major meltdowns and screams over clothes. I can only guess what teenage years will bring!
  • Getting her hair wet.  Bathtime is quite an ordeal when hair washing begins. You would think we are murdering her.
  • She also doesn't care for sleeping past 5:45 and has a special alarm that will let her know when she can get out of her room in the morning.  She has discovered that she can run into mommy and daddy's room at 5:45 stating her music alarm  is on and sometimes mommy and daddy fall for her lies.

3 year old likes:
  • Baby dolls and is quite nurturing. She adores Caroline and is so very excited to help with her baby sister.
  • Drawing preferably with pencils or pens and taking food orders from us at her cash register.  She loves showing off her circles and faces.  Most of the faces she draws are of her cousin, Caroline.  She also likes drawing H's and Q's.  She is able to identify and spell her name out loud.
  • Princesses and dress up.  She is constantly reapplying her lip gloss and making sure she reapplies it on mommy or daddy too.  Poor daddy. :)
  • Dancing and singing. She keeps practicing 1st position and arabesques. She loves belting out lyrics of Sweet Caroline (including the bum, bum, bum), Adele "Someone Like You" and Little Mermaid "Part of Your World", along with all the toddler tunes Papa installed on our Kindle.
  • Talking to "Molly" and giving mommy's tummy kisses each night
  • Talking about summer...in summertime I will go to the zoo, in summertime I will go to a baseball game, in summertime my sister will be here. I think she looks forward to summer as much as her mommy.

Favorite words: actually, definitely, probably, and absolutely
She enjoys sharing her knowledge about her colors, shapes, similarities and opposites. She also likes rhyming, especially with our names.  She just thinks it is soooo funny.

Favorite Phrases: Let's go Joe, Wait just a minute, I can do it,  See ya later alligator,  I'm not tired, I'm bigger,  When I was a baby..., I can teach my sister this when she is bigger
