Survived Our First Vacation

We survived our first long car trip! We are back from our fun week in Cass Lake, Minnesota. Our drive there we spent the night in Wisconsin and drove the rest of the way the next morning. Quinn wasn't interested in sleeping and she kept rolling over in the pack n play. She was funny to watch. Since she just wanted to roll, we ended up putting her in her carseat so she would actually sleep. Then we had Hayley barricaded in the corner loudly breathing all night. It was interesting, but we were so glad we broke up the trip into two days.

Quinn had a lot of quality time with Grandma and Grandpa Black. She was laughing a lot. She was perfecting her fake laugh all week. It cracks us up every time she does it. She loved being spoiled by Grandma and had special alone time while we went fishing with Grandpa. She tried practicing drinking water, but chewed on the cup instead.

We attempted to take a pontoon ride, but Quinn wasn't the slightest bit interested. She was miserable in her life jacket but eventually fell asleep from the rocking of the boat.

She liked the rides in the golf cart and fell asleep during her buggy stroller rides. She got her first mosquito bites. There is one on her cheek you can notice in some of the pictures.
I loved spending time with my daddy for Father's Day. Look at the way I look at him. I blush and laugh at him all the time. Boy he is great.
Check out Hayley in the background. She tried getting in the picture. She is definitely second to Quinn now, but she also had a blast chasing other dogs there and being leash-free.
I'm always blowing bubbles.
This is me before the trip. I didn't end up swimming, but I am signed up for Mommy and Tot swim at the end of July. I can't wait. I am home now and playing catch up on sleep. There was too much action going on to close my eyes there. Mommy is happy I am sleeping well again. She was worried that I was going through a new phase.

Getting out the door just isn't the same!

So we are trying to pack for our trip to visit Gary and Rose in Minnesota. We are looking forward to getting away, but it definitely takes more planning when traveling with an infant and a dog. We decided to take our wagon to save on gas and purchased a cargo carrier for the roof. We are going to look like the Grizwolds vacationing. Let's just hope little Quinn sleeps most the way. She has been fussing in the car recently, which is not her typical. We will post some pictures from the trip when we are back in town.

4 months old

Quinn had her 4 month birthday last week, but we thought we would update after her doctor's appointment. She is now 15lbs 14 oz (71%ile), 25 1/4 inches long (73%ile), and her head circumfrence 16.2 inches (43%ile). She was chatting it up with all the staff and was so happy to show off, until she got her shots. Boy, I was glad I had a bottle for her. We were told to start giving her Vitamin D drops and wait to start feeding solids until 6 months due to our family history of food allergies-first cereal, then veggies, then fruits.

Quinn's likes: She loves her fist, paci, and anything else she can get in her mouth, standing, bouncing in her jumperoo, flirting, laughing, grabbing hair and jewelry, pinching mommy and daddy's necks when she is fussy at the end of the night, kicking in her baths, being kissed, rolling, trying to do sit ups, and getting any attention. When she wakes up in her crib she likes to yell or talk to herself. She still enjoys being swaddled at night but we now have one arm completely out and are working on the other. She has been enjoying long naps (5hours at a time), but we have been paying for it at night. This past week she has been waking up around 1:00am. The doctor said it may not be the napping and could be from teething. We are trying to get her back on track.
Quinn's dislikes: She still doesn't enjoy being put in her carseat but once she is strapped in she is fine, falling asleep is a challenge this week-she tries so hard to stay awake, and when mommy and daddy are out of site she yells until she can see or hear them again. I love that her dislike list is so much shorter. She is really a good baby.

I went back to work last week for three days. My mom and cousin, Shannon, helped out the first two days and the third I brought her with me. She was good for them and it made it so much easier to go back. She loved her first day of school and had fun meeting my friends and all the students. The good little girl napped in her carseat without any problems. She was a real trooper and she didn't get any lice that had been going around the school the week prior...thank GOD.
